DESCRIPTION:
Self-propelled guided projectile that operates underwater and is designed to detonate when in proximity of incoming torpedoes.

The MK-IX is designed to intercept high speed torpedoes fired from nuclear submarines and surface ships. The MK-IX replaced the MK-VII intercept torpedo. The MK-IX has been operational in the U.S. and UEO Navies since 2029. The MK-IX, when combined with countermeasures, is approximately 78.2% effective.

FEATURES:
MK-IX intercept torpedo can operate with or without wire guidance and use active and/or passive homing. When launched it executes programmed target search, acquisition and attack procedures. It can also conduct multiple reattacks if it misses the target.
